Location

The Eastern Republic of Uruguay is situated on the southeast of South America. In the northeast it borders with the Federative Republic of Brazil and in the south and southwest with the Río de la Plata. In the west, the Río de la Plata separates Uruguay from the Argentine Republic.

It has a total population of 3,241,003 (2005) inhabitants and its land area is of 176,215 square km with over 500 km of coasts along the Atlantic Ocean and the Río de la Plata.
Uruguay is member of the agreement called Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) which makes it part of a market of over 229 million inhabitants with the highest income per cápita of the continent and a GDP of approximately 704,000 million dollars.

Its varied and extensive communication network which, together with the competitiveness of its financial services and its support infrastructure to the business activity, facilitates the access to the core of the businesses in MERCOSUR and their outreach to other regions and countries in the world

Colonia Free Zone is located in the city of Colonia del Sacramento, declared in 1995 by UNESCO a World Heritage Site. It was founded in 1923, which makes it one of the oldest and most well-known Free Zones in the country, and proves its extensive experience in South America.

It has an unparalleled strategic location over the Río de la Plata, it’s only 178 km away from Montevideo, 600 m from the Port of Colonia and 45 km from the city of Buenos Aires, connected by several regular services of sea, air and land transport.
